Makeup | Daytime Cool-Toned Smokey Eye Look

Hey everyone, today I'm sharing the latest makeup gig that I did. It's on one of my favorite clients, Miss Maui Filipina:) She's gorgeous, so half the work is already done! She was going to get her photos done for her next pageant and she also had interviews that night with the judges. I really try to do a new look on her with every gig that I have with her because I like to push the boundaries for her and I. She's really into browns but I really want to show her the beauty of the cool tone colors.

Knowing that I needed to do a look on her that would look great during the day and night I did this daytime cool-toned smokey eye.

Today's post is a haul from iKateHouse. I've been stalking DressYourFace on iG and I absolutely love her makeup transformations. The contouring she does is amazing. Of course, I'll be looking at the products she's using. For contour and highlight, she uses LA Girl Pro Conceal. In doing my research, I found that this product is extremely affordable! Mani Monday | Sally Hansen's Breezy Blue [481]

Hey everyone,
Today's post is another Mani Monday and it is featuring Sally Hansen's Breezy Blue [481]. I picked this up at my local Walgreens.

Available: at your local drugstore
Price: $1.99

Overall: This is a pastel blue with some blue/green subtle shimmer and is great spring/summer color. This is from Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear line.

Pros: It applied opaque in two coats. I can see this complimenting many skintones.

Cons: Started chipping on its 3rd day, which is a downer because it's suppose to be long wearing. My nail line is somewhat visible through the two coats.

Makeup | Mandy's Wedding, Bridesmaid makeup

Hi everyone,
I'm back and today's post will be on bridesmaid makeup that I did at my friend's wedding. At the initial makeup trial, I used a gray eyeshadow, Makeup Geek Prom Night eyeshadow, on the lid color to match the bridesmaids gown of cream and gray. I asked my other makeup friends about it, and even did the same look on one of them. They really liked the look but thought it was more appropriate for an evening wedding. I reluctantly agreed and went back to my palette of neutrals. The only thing I changed was the lid color, which went from Makeup Geek Prom Night to Mac Stable. Mac Stable, is a great shimmery chocolate brown eyeshadow that actually matches the cowboy boots that the bridesmaids wore.

These are the products that I used on the bridesmaids. Each bridesmaid varies in skin color and I made the proper adjustments. One of them has dark circles like me and so I used Eve Pearl Tan Concealer and applied Mac Prolong Wear Concealer over it. Each bridesmaid had a different braid style. It was totally cute! They were a great set of girls and they totally made me feel like a part of the wedding party. They even gave a gift filled with Bath and Body products. Thanks girls!

Hey everyone,
Today's haul is from Ulta. I saw a deal that NouveauCheap posted on her instagram. Hah, I really don't recommend following her if you're on a budget. It was a Stila deal at Ulta only available for that day. So I went Christmas Shopping for my girlfriends!

Mani Monday | Sinful Colors - Cinderlla [1106]

Hey everyone,
Today's Mani Monday post is featuring another pastel blue color, Sinful Color's Cinderella. I actually bought this when I purchased Sally Hansen's Breezy Blue. I just think pastel blues really compliment my skintone.

Available: at your local drugstore
Price: $1.99

Pros: Semi-bright pastel blue with iridescent shimmer particles.

Cons: I'm still able to see my nail line at two coats and the dry time is long. I always apply a base coat and a fast drying top coat to my manicures and even with that there was creasing on the tips of my nails after 1-2 hours after application. I've never had a nail polish do that to me ever especially with a fast drying top coat.

Overall: I'm not happy with the formula at all. It's a gorgeous color that really looks like something from a fairy tale but it's unfortunately something I wouldn't recommend purchasing.

Haul | Paula's Choice

Hey everyone,
Today, I have a haul to share. The reason why I was even shopping around for skincare was because my CeraVe Moisturizing Facial Lotion AM. It may not protect me from UVA rays. I was putting together a post on sunscreen. In doing research to find supporting facts I found out my own product may not be protecting my own skin. Ahhh! Imagine the look of betrayal on my face.

So then I went on a hunt for another moisturizer with sunscreen in it. I've been wanting to do try some Paula's Choice products and the ratings have been great. Also some YouTube gurus like Allura Beauty and Gossmakeup who raves about her products. So I picked up Paula's Choice Resist Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense, 4.5 stars out of 443 reviews. Since there was a special for free shipping with a purchase of $50, I added Resist Skin Resurfacing & Smoothing Set. The reason why I got this set was because I've been wanting to address the uneven skintone and the scarring from past acne. I've heard that AHA and BHA work best for that and the set contains a 5% and 10% products.

Mani Monday | L'oreal Royalty Reinvented [107]

Hey everyone,
Today's post is the first in its series of Mani Mondays! For this Mani Monday, I have L'oreal Royalty Reinvented [107]. I picked this up when CVS had 40% off L'oreal products.

Available: at your local drugstore
Price: $4.99

Overall: Royalty Reinvented is a pastel purple with a beautiful cream finish. This polish is from the Trendsetter Collection.

Pros: Opaque in two coats and is a great spring/summer color. It remained vibrant for a good five days.

Cons: Wear time is regular but I did notice some wear on my tips within 24 hours.

Makeup | Mandy's Wedding

Hey everyone,
This post is going to be on the wedding that I did for my good friend, Mandy. Like I mentioned previously, I didn't like the work that was done on her during a makeup trial. I just feel it wasn't suited for her. So I meet up with her one day and did her makeup while catching up with life. It was fun! no pressure or anything. I wasn't going in trying to land a job. I just wanted to do a look that would compliment her features and the wedding theme: a country day time wedding. Plus she's beautiful, so not much work for me! She loved the look and booked me for her wedding. The makeup on the bridesmaids will be in a separate post.

Review | Real Techniques Core Collection Brush Set

Hey everyone! Today I'm posting my first review and it's on the Real Techniques Core Collection Brush Set. I did makeup on a good friend who had a family photo shoot. She and I loved the outcome of the makeup and it really motivated her to learn how to apply makeup. She has some random makeup products but one thing she did lacked were makeup brushes. She asked what were the black and white soft brushes I was using on her and I said it was brushes from Real Techniques. I really recommend them to beginners especially because when starting your arsenal of makeup it can be very costly. So here's a review on these brushes!

This set consist of four brushes: detailer brush, pointed foundation brush, buffing brush, and contour brush. All of the brushes are labeled at the end of handle. These brushes don't need to be used for what they are labeled for. Here are my favorite uses for these brushes:

Detailer brush: to apply lipstick and gloss
Pointed foundation brush: to apply undereye concealer and highlight
Buffing brush: to apply liquid and powder foundation and blush
Contour brush: to apply highlight and contour

The set of brushes also comes with a 2 in 1 case and stand.


Pros: I've had these brushes since they were first released in 2011 and they're all in great condition. I have no problems with them shedding or bleeding. My favorite brush would have to be the buffing brush. I use it especially for applying powder foundation. The best part is they are 100% cruelty free!

Cons: Of all of the brushes, the brush that I don't use the most is the pointed foundation brush. Although the case is cool I haven't found myself using them at all.

Overall: A great set of brushes for a deal, it ends up being $4.50 a brush! I've find myself reaching for them over my Mac brushes at times. It's also great to support the Pixiwoo sisters, one of the best makeup gurus on YouTube.

Hey everyone! Today I have a review on the Real Techniques Starter Kit. The reason why I started a review on these items is because a good friend wanted some affordable brush recommendation and I recommend these products.

This set consists of five brushes: base shadow brush, accent brush, pixel-point eyeliner brush, brow brush and a deluxe crease brush. All of the brushes are labeled at the end of the handle. Base shadow brush: applying and blending eyeshadows
Accent brush: applying eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eye and to the lower lash line

Staying here...Welcome me back

Hey everyone,
Today was suppose to be the launch of my new beauty blogger but looking back at this page and the amount of postings I have (~ 340 posts), followers (120+), and popular postings. It makes sense to just work with the better foundation...which is here. I really wanted a new start but all that newness also comes with zero support.  So I'm going to spend a whole lot of time transferring the postings that I have lined up at the other site to this one. I also want to look back through my postings and delete the ones that I feel aren't up to par?

Why am I back at this again? Well recently I've been doing makeup gigs. I've done some in the past but I wasn't promoting myself so gigs were far and few in between. Just doing makeup on my family members and friends for fun was the thing for me. My friend, Mandy, was getting married and I didn't like the work from the trial makeup that the makeup artist. So I asked if I could play with her face:) it was really just for fun. She hired me on the spot, and other opportunities have come up and that's why I'm back to blogging. I think it's a good way to showcase my work and also provide some opinions that I have on some beauty products. Plus it's a great way for my friends to go back and see what products I used on them.

Review | Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation

Hi everyone, today's post is going to be a review on Covergirl's Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in Golden Tan. This foundation has been raved by almost all of of the youtube gurus confirming the longevity of this product. This totally got my interest because I'm always on the hunt for long lasting foundation especially if it's drugstore. Found my color match by looking up gurus that have similar skintones to me and decided to go with Golden Tan. Upon discovering my color I searched my local drugstores for it. It was difficult because living in Hawaii we receive new products fairly late and I discovered that less than half of the drugstores carried the Outlast foundation and the drugstores that do were completely out of Golden Tan. I was consistently checking every week for three weeks and I gave up and decided to purchase it online. I purchased it through Drugstore ($8) and just received it a couple of days.

The foundation is encased in a glass tube with a plastic pump and cover. One pump of foundation was enough to cover my whole face. It applied well, creamy consistency. Golden Tan is a little light for me but do-able. It has a satin finish, very natural looking. Although it states a primer, foundation and concealer is in the product, the product didn't cover my dark under eye circles well.  I applied it at 9am and lasted for 5-6 hours before I could see my oil breaking through the foundation. By 5pm the oil on my face won the battle. No powdering was done to test the longevity of the foundation.

Although the foundation didn't last the 12 hours that it promised I'm still happy with my purchase. I know that not many foundations can battle it out with my skin type so having this foundation last more than 5 hours is good. It doesn't perform better than my Estee Lauder Double Wear and Double Wear Light but its redeeming quality is the price tag. I will be purchasing this foundation in the future and recommend it.

Mani Monday | Zoya (Pixie Dust) - Stevie

Hi everyone today's Mani Monday is featuring Zoya's Stevie from their Pixie Dust Collection. The Pixie Dust Collection is described to be textured, matte, and stunning. It's suppose to be used on its own, that means no base coat or top coat. Instructions are use apply thin coats and allow each coat to completely dry before applying next coat. The final product should take approximately 10 minutes to dry. The only polish that I picked up from the Pixie Dust Collection is Stevie.

Stevie is a cool toned lavender with silver reflective glitters/shimmers. It applied opaque in two coats and I applied a total of two coats. Application was great, no streaking and it applied even. I thought I would be bothered by the texture of the polish because I'm not a fan of glitter polishes but this was ok! Surprisingly it didn't drive me bonkers maybe because the texture wasn't too bad. It reminds of fine sand paper.

It wore three days before I starting to see some wear on the ends of my nails and its to be expected because there were no base coat or top coat to aid in the wear of the polish. The removal of the polish was similar to a glitter polish...it was a pain! but it was worth it:)

Mario Badescu Samples

Hi everyone, I received my Mario Badescu product samples a couple of days ago and I wanted to show you the items I got. First of all, I've always wanted to try Mario Badescu products for the longest time (even before it was offered through Nordstrom) but I've put it to the side because I'm trying to get through the mountain of products that I already have. Hearing the raves about their products from Youtube Gurus got me interested again so I went to their site and filled out a questionnaire so I could do research on the type of products that they would recommend for my skin type and concerns.

A couple of days after doing the questionnaire, I received an email from them asking if I would like to try some samples of the products that were recommended to me...WHY OF COURSE! I thought it would take some time for the products to get to me because I didn't pay a penny for the samples. So I thought it would be shipped the slowest method but nope, I received it about a week after I replied to their email.

Here are the samples that I received for my oily skin...

To me it shows that they have faith in their products working. I'll let you know which products I'll be purchasing as soon as I form an opinion. 

Mani Monday | Hard Candy Candy Sprinkles

Hi everyone, today's Mani Monday post is on Hard Candy Candy Sprinkles. The two that I have are Pixie Pink and Gummy Green. I purchased them from Walmart, it was $4-$5. I bought this right after Crystal007 introduced her finds through her channel. I immediately went out to look for them and found them at my Walmart.  

 

The two polishes that caught my eye were Gummy Green and Pixie Pink. I did want to purchase more but was hesitant to because I'm not a big fan of glitter nail polishes (hence why you always see creme type of nail polishes). 

 Both of the nail polishes applied unevenly, not just the glitter particles but the polishes themselves. I had to apply about three coats of polish for it to look even. The manicures lasted two days before I saw chipping on the tips. I did apply the usual base coat and top coat. I'm disappointed because I can usually go for four/five days with most nail polishes because it starts to show some wear.

Overall, these polishes were fun to play with especially since I purchased them right when spring came. It got a lot of compliments but I wasn't impressed with the application and stay of the polishes. It was also difficult to remove the polishes, reminding me why I'm ever so loyal to my creme polishes.

Review | Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Purifying Mask

Hi everyone, today's post is going to be on Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Purifying Mask ($29.95, 2 fl oz.). I purchase this on Cyber Monday because of the 60% off that Sibu was having. I've used Sibu products for some time and I didn't see this on their website, I'm guessing its a new product. One of my favorite youtubers is Uppiesbeads59, also known as Crazy Miss Tammy. She's constantly masking and she inspired me to purchase this product, especially with 60% off!

This mask claims to.....
1) Purifies and refreshes skin
2) Helps slough off dead skin cells evenly
3) Reveals a fresh, youthful radiance

I applied a thin layer to my face, carefully avoiding the eye area. I had it sit on my face for 7 minutes and rinsed it away with lukewarm water. It states for best results, use 1x a week. After applying a thin layer (need half a quarter size for entire face) I noticed a slight tightening effect a minute after applying but it seemed like the tightening effect didn't continue on. I noticed some small exfoliating beads in the mask which was nice especially when I had to remove the mask. After my first use, I didn't notice anything. I've continued to use this product and haven't seen any huge improvements in my skin.

My cousin who has a complete different skin chemistry than me adores this product. She has dry skin (I have oily/combo) and she says after using this mask her skin feels smoother and clearer.

Overall, I'm not going to repurchase the product. It wasn't a complete miss seeing that I didn't have any adverse affects so I'll be finishing up the product but I'm not going to repurchase it. I'm glad that I purchased it when I did because I would be upset paying full price for a product that doesn't perform.

Makeup for Pic ID

Hi everyone, today's post will be on makeup for a picture ID. I had to renew my license and I had to think about what kind of makeup I was going to do and I thought this would be a great post. Since I didn't know what time of the day I'd be renewing my license I thought it would be best to wear a mattifying foundation (I usually do anyway). For people who has normal/combo skin I suggest you look into wearing a long wearing/mattifying foundation. We don't want a shiny face that we need to look at for atleast 5 years! The foundation that I wore was Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation in Honey Beige.

I did my regular contour and blush but applied it a bit heavier than I usually do so it'll be noticeable in the picture. I skipped the highlight in case I do look oily (despite my efforts not to). For my eyes, I used a black eyeshadow base and applied Mac's Satin Taupe on the lid, Mac's Soft Brown in the crease and Mac's Blanc Type as a highlighter.  For lips, I use Mac's Mocha and Mac's Plushglass in Wildly Lush.

Despite my efforts, there was a shine on my face it probably was because the camera wasn't the best and print out too. Hope these tips will help you in your future picture IDs:)

The disappearing act...I'm so good at it!

Hey everyone, sorry again for another disappearing act. A lot has happened, I've been trying to start a healthy lifestyle by exercising and developing good eating habits. I've actually been really good at the whole exercising thing, last week I exercised for over 6 hours. Developing good eating habits...ahh I could do a whole lot better. If you want me to blog about that on top of makeup I can do that:) It'll for sure hold me accountable.

Also I've been pretty accident prone. The last three weeks I cut my finger by bringing down boxes to recycle, smashed it the next day while exercising with weights at the gym = infected finger! I actually had to go to the doctor to get it sliced and drained. It was a slow healing process and at one point I thought I had to see the doctor to get it drained again but it healed on its own:) Exactly one week of getting my finger drained I got stung by a bee on the arch of my foot, first time every getting stung by a bee! So that's what I've been doing lately, I've also developed an addiction to gaming, especially with Candy Crush. SoOoO bad, I can spend hours and $ paying that game. I also developed bad sleeping patterns. I would rather spend the time and $ doing something productive like blogging. That's why I jumped on to the blogger bandwagon again. Look forward to upcoming posts:)
