Product Review: Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation

One of Mac’s latest collections (amongst the handful that Mac has thrown us) is Well-Defined. In this collection, two new products has been introduced and it doesn’t seem like it’ll be leaving since I don’t see the triangle of death next to it. So here’s a review on the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation.

So I was able to try this foundation and the new concealer out when I had gone in for my Hello Kitty Makeover. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on this product so I was hesitant to purchase it (not that I need any new foundation right now!). First off, I think that the MUA was slightly off in matching me because the foundation is a tad bit lighter so please pay no attention to that.

Pros: The packaging is something new to Mac’s foundation line, it’s a twist cap plastic squeeze tube. The good points about this is you don’t need to purchase a separate pump, more sanitary unlike the twist off cap of the Studio Fix Fluid, and you won’t have to worry about the glass packaging breaking unlike the other foundations. It’s a gel based foundation so it keeps the skin hydrated throughout the day. Majority of Mac’s foundation (Studio Fix Fluid, Mineralize Satinfinish) are 30mL, so this foundation has 10mL more which is equivalent to 10grams.

Cons: This foundation keeps the skin hydrated..sometimes too much too fast. The photos below were taken about an hour after application..do you see it! Yes the shine! Geez imagine how shiny I would be after an 8 hour day? Another con is the packaging, although there are many good qualities please take into consideration that it is in a squeeze tube and I don’t know how secure the cap would be on it. I do know that the plastic is rather thin so very little amount of pressure is needed to get the foundation out. I just wouldn’t want foundation splattered everywhere. The application I heard is an issue too, it doesn’t blend well people mentioned. I wouldn’t know because I didn’t apply it on myself my MUA did. I also felt the foundation, I usually don’t notice when I’m wearing foundation but this stuff is kind of heavy. I’ve also heard that it’s breaking people outL

Overall: I think that the people who are raving about this product have dry to normal skin. That’s the only audience that I know of who would benefit from this because of its hydrating properties. People with oily skin, I suggest that you all ask for a sample first to see how you’ll look in it. I know that you can always remedy shine with some blot powder but blotting an hour after application doesn’t cut it for me.

Anyone has this? What are your thoughts on it?

I actually love this stuff, it's my faveeee! :) What kind of powder do you set it with? That might by why you are getting massive shine?

I think she had set it with Studio Fix Powder.
