The She Space Pigments & TaylorMade Pigments

So I’ve been lurking around and on Christiana (Memoirs of a Shopping Addict) I saw some swatches of some mineral pigments/eyeshadows and I was pretty impressed by the pigmentation so I immediately went to the websites and ordered a couple to try out. So here’s the Review!

The She Space Pigments
www.theshespace.com
Product: 5 out of 5
Packaging: 4 out of 5
Quality: 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5
Price: $0.50 for a sample bag (5+ uses)
$4.00 for a 3 gram jar

So there are two choices of sizes for the pigments, a small bag and a 3 gram jar. I suggest trying out the bag sample because 1) it’s cheaper 2) small sample of color 3) to check out the quality of the pigment. The 1st batch I ordered (I ordered 3 batches) it was all in the sample bags because I didn’t want to spend too much on money on a company that I haven’t heard too much about. I don’t trust pictures when it comes to the color of the pigment and I mean it for all companies. I like looking at swatches that people do but face it everyone’s skin tone is different and there’s also undertones to consider. But I must say that the pictures on The She Space Pigments are pretty accurate.

Pros: I must admit these pigments are probably the best mineral pigments I have ever tried! Their pigmentation is awesome (especially if you use them with Mac’s Mixing Medium). They are extremely fine and not chunky unlike some Mac pigments (ex: Steel Blue, Rose). I ordered 2 more orders after receiving and trying the 1st order. They also have a wide array of colors! Shipping is awesome with these pigments can’t beat $1 or $2 shipping charges.

Cons: The only disappointment is that the turn around time for shipping is 7 days. It is much understood because I can imagine how tedious it is to scoop out these samples for large orders because of the attractive price tag. It’s kind of hard to get to the product if you are buying samples in baggies because you want to be gentle and not rip the plastic bag open and get pigment everywhere but it’s understood that this is the cheapest packaging so I won’t count against it much.

Overall: This is a great alternative to buying Mac Pigments. It’s also mineral! The pigmentation is amazing and most importantly it’s affordable. I’ll definitely buy (Already did!) more of these.

The Taylor Made Minerals
www.taylormademinerals.com
Product: 4 out of 5
Packaging: 4 out of 5
Quality: 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5
Price: $1.00 ¼ tsp sample (bag)
$1.75 for a ¼ tsp sample (jar)
$5.50 for a 1 Tbsp sample (jar)

Another mineral pigment! The samples for Taylor Made Minerals are larger than the She Space maybe 3-4x bigger but hey that’s a given when you look at the price tag. These pigments are extremely fine too. The texture of this product is very similar to the She Space pigment. The pictures on the website for me aren’t as accurate as it looks like. It’s not as pigmented as it looks like when I tried swatching it.

Pro: Still cheaper than Mac pigments and there’s one more choice in size than the She Space because it offer’s a ¼ sample in a jar and bag. Jars are easier to use! The turn around time is a bit faster than the She Space but it seems like Taylor Made Minerals is a larger company and the She Space is owned and run by Heather herself. So that explains the turn around time. Taylor Made Minerals also offer a wide array of colors.

Cons: It’s not as pigmented and vibrant as the She Space but it is still a great and affordable alternative to Mac pigments.

Overall: I’d definitely check the site out for updates

The Comparisons

Both are very affordable but I personally believe that the She Space pigments are very true to its color. When I swatched pigments from the two companies onto my hand you need to layer the Taylor Made Minerals to get the same payoff if I were to do one swipe of the She Space pigment. The She Space pigment also seems to be much more vibrant and it stays vibrant for a good amount of time when foiled or used with a good base.

Look forward to a Tutorial on these!

thanks so much for this review!
i've been lemming 4 mineral companies: pure luxe, M*A*D*, TMM and SheSpace. I went through with the first two and the latter two, I waited. Getting your review helped. TMM's site made me very apprehensive about ordering because I just wasn't sure of what I thought I was ordering would be what I'd get. now that you've posted, I feel better. She Space already got my vote, but this motivates me more. thaks again!!

yummy411: No thank you. Please let me know how it works for you. I believe that foiling is the best method in applying these. I haven't tried pure luxe and M*A*D* yet. But I've heard good things on them.

I generally hate loose powder, but I caved in and made a small She Space haul. I'm still waiting for it to arrive, but your swatches make me even more anxious. :)
